Isle of Bute Ramblers

Patrick is leading the walk. Meet at lovely cottage 9.55 am to meet the Rothesay bus. Walk to Kildavannan farm via Hydro road and tramway to Ettrick bay. Then to Scarrel farmstead via Kildavannan track. Back down to Glecknabae rd and walk to the Red burn track to Lenihall farmstead. Back via Glecknabae Road to Ettrick Bay and catch the bus back. About 11 kilometres or 6 miles. Packed lunch or alternatively Ettrick bay tearoom. Poles and gaiters. Terrain rolling hillside. could be a bit muddy. 

Walkers are advised to take walking pole(s) and gaiters, personal First Aid kit, insect repellent, a drink, face covering for cafes and public transport. As a better day is forecast on Saturday, the Ramblers walk will be an 8 mi flat jaunt from Knocknicol Wood to Kilchattan PO via the war memorial, Kerrylamont Cottage, the Black Dub Plantation(?) track, Kingarth, St Blaine's Road and the Suidhe Plantation track (WIW), taking 3-4 hr. Walkers are advised to take shower wear, just in case, and a packed lunch and drink, though there should be a cafe open at the PO. The walk starts with the 9:45 bus to Mt Stuart at Guilford Square, and the walk leader is Jim.

Peter will lead walk on Saturday 12 February. 10.15 bus from Guildford Square to Rhubodach. Will take ferry over to Colintraive then walk out along single track road following Loch Ruel. Its a linear walk so will come back same way. Easy walking along quiet road, great views across Loch at various points. Around four hours including lunch stop. Will have time for refreshment at Colintraive Hotel before return on 1640 bus to Rothesay.

Barbara will lead an easy walk, starting at 10 am from Lovely Cottage in Ardbeg (bus north from Guildford Square at 9.44), walking up the Gortans to join the West Island Way and then continuing along the WIW to Loch Fad and into Rothesay. If the weather is too bad there's an opportunity to turn off into Rothesay sooner and find a coffee shop!
