Ettrick Bay to Rhubodach 9.45 bus north from Guildford Square to Ettrick Bay, to walk to Rhubodach via the West Island Way. Return from Rhubodach 14.40 bus. Rough terrain, muddy in places. Dress suitably and bring food and drink. 7 miles, moderate, led by Paul (07541 080332).

Two Caves 9.45am bus south from Guildford Square to Kilchattan orchard to walk by the airfield and beach to explore the caves, and return via Langalbuinoch to Kingarth. Buses return hourly from Kingarth. 6 miles, moderate, led by Patrick (07734 291751).

West Island Way Northern Loop 9.45am bus north from Guildford Square to Port Bannatyne to walk the tramway to the Glenmore Road, which becomes a forest track through the Rhubodach woodlands, the community forest, Windy Hill, Kames Hill, finishing back in Port Bannatyne. 12 miles, moderate, led by Harry (07801 946643).

Kilchattan circuit
Revised walk route for Saturday as the bracken has obliterated parts of planned route. Same bus out, 9.45 Guildford Sq to Kilchatten. Going to take in 2 beaches, walking out past airfield to Stravanan Bay, then looping back past sawmill and back down to Kilchatten Bay. About 7 miles mostly on good tracks with a few short muddy sections, led by Peter (07925 464035).

Tarbert Seafood Festival and walk Meet at Chapel Hill car park at 7.45 for car sharing to Rhubodach ferry at 8.10. Drive to Portavadie approx 50 mins, park cars. Go as foot passengers on Portavadie ferry at 9.30 as they are every hour only. Arrive Tarbert 10am for key events of food festival. Cafe C'dora for coffee/breakfast, then seafood festival and street market. Seafood demonstration in harbour. Afternoon various walk options, white beach short easy walk or any one of the 3 loops above the castle. Portavadie ferry home, probably 4 or 5pm and return to Rothesay.
