Walk Saturday 6th November 2021 CANCELLED
Please note the walk has been cancelled due to the bad weather forecast. Peter may do this walk next week - check here next week!
Peter will lead walk on Saturday (weather permitting). 10.00 start from Discovery Centre to Loch Fad via Townhead and then following WHW to Port Bannatyne. Moderate walk but will be muddy underfoot at certain points. Relatively short walk so option of walking back into town via Shore Road or bus back to town from from PB. Weather forecast as of today (Thursday) is not good so check Blog Friday afternoon for confirmation. If very wet will cancel.
Walkers are advised to take personal First Aid kit, face covering for cafes and public transport. Margaret is leading the walk, taking the 9:45am bus from Guildford Square south to Kilchatten Bay, starting from the Orchard through the woods across by the Air Field and Golf Course, Langalbuinoch beach then up on to the moors road to Lochend ….. weather permitting then cross down to Loch Fad and into Rothesay via Lovers Lane and the Shinty pitch.
Walkers are advised to take walking pole(s) and gaiters, personal First Aid kit, insect repellent, a drink, face covering for cafes and public transport. Walk Saturday 23rd October 2021
Saturday's walk will be led by Jim, and is a moderate 9 mi ramble to Kilchattan via Loch Fad, the Moor Road, Knocknicol Wood, Mount Stuart Orchard & Courtyard cafe, South Lodge, Kilchattan Bay to Kilchattan Orchard & PO. You've got it - we're going apple-picking while there are lots on the trees. We meet at the Discovery Center at 10 am and so far the weather looks as if it will be sunny albeit a little breezy at times. Pair of good walking boots /shoes, clothing appropriate to the weather on the day, poles to help get the goodies off the trees, drinkables & optionally a packed lunch, and personal first-aid kit are what's required. See you there.

Walk Saturday 16th October 2021
Peter is leading the walk on Saturday, taking the 9.45am bus south from Guildford Square towards Kilchattan, getting off at New Farm, walking via James Ride, the golf course, airstrip, and standing stones to the post office at Kilchattan Bay. It is all fairly flat, no climbing. Walking time about two and a half hours. Refreshments should be available in Kilchatten Post Office.
