Walk Saturday 10th April 2021
Pat O'Sullivan is leading the walk this Saturday. 10.15 bus from Guildford Sq: North to Moss wood, we will have time to explore the woods and have a coffee break. Probably 2.5 hrs to get to Hilton from the woods. Walk from the forest is both hilly and boggy, so poles and gaiters are advisable. Picnic, drinks required and public transport back to Rothesay from Port Bannatyne. Would imagine getting back to the Port for 2.30 to 3pm.
Anyone going should register details on Bute Ramblers phone 07516-373584. Don't forget face covering for bus and personal first aid kit. Plenty of photo opportunities

Walk for Saturday 20th March 2021
A message from JimC gives the details "Hi Ramblers-in-abeyance, your time is here - the first Ramblers group walk since lockdown! This walk on Saturday, March 20th, is a new on-island one designed to make best use of current travel limitations, but allows us to see a waterfall and gorge, cross a couple of simple streams, climb a couple of easy hills, go thru a couple of woods and relax at the end in custom-made outdoor luxury 🧔 while awaiting the bus home. To start we catch the 10:15 am bus to Rhubodach from Guildford Square, and then go up the right bank of the Balnakeilly Burn to where it goes under the West Island Way (WIW). We then cross the said way, and take the abandoned mountain bike track to the top of Sighthill. Next we follow the forestry track down to the WIW, and follow the way round to before the roadhead at Shalunt. Finally, we take a newly built track down to Moss Wood outdoor recreation center, where we can relax till the bus into town comes at just after 4:40 pm. It's a moderate but exercising 5 hr walk over varied terrain on tracks, paths and a couple of sheep paths. You need good boots and walking poles - gaiters are advised - a pinic lunch and something to drink, and don't forget your personal 1st aid kit and face covering. See you all on the bus!
NB You need to register for the walk beforehand by texting your name and membership number to the Bute Ramblers mobile (07516373584) or email
