Bute Ramblers is part of Ramblers Scotland. We normally have a full programme of walks through the year on Saturdays. A programme of walks is currently being published, with more details on the website blog a few days before.

Anyone is welcome to join us for a few walks before becoming a member. PLEASE NOTE - WE DO NOT ACCEPT DOGS (EXCEPT ASSISTANCE/GUIDE DOGS) ON OUR WALKS.

Bute is an island approximately 15 miles long and 5 miles wide in the Firth of Clyde. A short ferry trip from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay harbour gives easy access to buses, north to Port Bannatyne, Rhubodach (where another ferry goes across to Colintraive and the Cowal peninsula), and Ettrick Bay, or south to Kilchattan Bay.

There are many walks, from easy to strenuous. The West Island Way is a good way to see the whole island. It is approximately 30 miles long but can be split into shorter sections, and takes in the medieval ruins of St Blane's in the south, to the rugged scenery in the north, with fine views across to Arran, Inchmarnock, and the Kyles of Bute.

Other visitor attractions include Mount Stuart house, Rothesay Castle, Bute museum, Ardencraig Gardens, Rothesay Pavilion (currently closed for restoration), and activities such as golf, sailing, fishing, etc. See Visit Bute for more information, or contact the Isle of Bute Discovery Centre
