Barbara will lead the walk, taking the 09.45am bus south from Guildford Square to the Kilchattan Bay terminus and walking the south section of the West Island Way to Hawks Neb, Rubh’an Eun lighthouse, Glencallum Bay, a pause at St Blane’s for a snack before returning to Kilchattan post office for refreshments and the return bus (hourly) to Rothesay. Approx 5 miles, moderate with some slightly more difficult sections along the coast, possibly a bit wet underfoot in places. Lots of spring flowers - primrose, lesser celandine and violets - and lambs.
Walkers are advised to take walking pole(s) and gaiters, personal First Aid kit, insect repellent, a drink, face covering for cafes and public transport. Please note that you need to register for the walk before-hand by texting name, phone number and membership number (if a member) to the Bute Ramblers phone (07516373584) as the Ramblers regulations on covid-avoidance still hold.
